Terms of Service

1. The service

Bisso lets people read and write structured restaurant reviews. By using it you agree to these terms. The service is operated from Denmark and provided free of charge.

2. Accounts

You're responsible for your account and for keeping it secure. You must be at least 13 years old. Don't impersonate others or create accounts to manipulate ratings.

3. Your content & licence

You keep ownership of what you post (reviews, photos, ratings). You grant Bisso a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute and machine-translate (clearly labelled) your content, and to grant the same rights to service providers acting on our behalf solely to operate, secure and promote the service. This licence ends when you delete the content, except that we may retain (i) copies in routine backups until they expire under our retention policy and (ii) anonymised or aggregated data that no longer identifies you, and we cannot recall copies already lawfully distributed. You confirm you have the rights to what you post, that it reflects your genuine experience, and you consent to the machine translation of your reviews. We respect your moral rights under applicable copyright law.

4. Acceptable use

No illegal content, harassment, hate speech, spam, fake or incentivised reviews, scraping, or attempts to break or overload the service. Reviews must reflect real visits. We may moderate, score-exclude, remove, or suspend content/accounts that break these rules (our moderation actions are logged and reversible).

4a. How we keep reviews genuine

We take reasonable steps to ensure reviews reflect real experiences: reviews require a registered account (Google or email), reviews must reflect an actual visit, our published scoring method quality-weights and time-decays reviews and discounts or excludes thin, suspicious or manipulated ones, and our moderators can remove or score-exclude content that breaches these terms. We do not allow paid or incentivised reviews, and venues cannot pay to change their ranking. We do not claim to verify that every reviewer visited a restaurant.

5. Ratings & rankings

Scores are computed by our published method (quality-weighted, time-decayed; thin or excluded reviews are discounted). We don't sell rankings or let venues pay to change their scores.

6. Information accuracy — important disclaimers

Allergen & dietary information shown on Bisso is provided by reviewers and restaurants. It is never generated or inferred by automated systems or AI. We do not verify, test or independently confirm it, it may be incomplete, outdated or wrong, and it does not account for cross-contamination or "may contain" risks in a kitchen. We make no representation that any dish is safe for any allergy, intolerance or dietary requirement, and it is shown for general information only. If you have a food allergy or intolerance, do not rely on Bisso — always confirm directly with the restaurant before ordering or eating. Responsibility for accurate allergen information lies with the restaurant as the food business operator under Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011. (Your statutory rights, and the liability we cannot exclude under section 7, are unaffected.)

Machine translations are automated and labelled as such; they may be inaccurate or lose meaning. The original text always prevails and a "show original" option is provided. Do not rely on a translation for any allergen, dietary or safety information — the original text and the allergen rule above govern.

Restaurant facts imported from open data are provided "as is".

7. Liability

The service is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available", and we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that information on it is accurate or complete.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for gross negligence or intentional wrongdoing, for fraud, under applicable product-liability law, or any of your mandatory statutory rights as a consumer under Danish and EU law, which are not affected by these terms.

Subject to the paragraph above, and because the service is provided free of charge, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, goodwill or data, for the content of reviews or other information provided by users or third parties (including allergen, dietary and machine-translated information), or for any loss arising from your reliance on such information. To the extent our liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

8. User content & our role as host

Bisso is a neutral host of user-generated content. We are not responsible for users' reviews until we have actual knowledge of illegal content, after which we act expeditiously to remove or disable access to it. To report illegal, infringing or rule-breaking content, email privacy@bisso.app; we handle notices in a timely, diligent and non-arbitrary way.

9. Termination

You can close your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy on deletion), and you can export or delete your content. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms; where feasible we will give notice and a reason.

10. Governing law & disputes

These terms are governed by Danish law, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence. If you have a complaint we can't resolve, EU consumers can use the national alternative-dispute-resolution bodies (in Denmark, the Center for Klageløsning / Forbruger Europa (ECC Denmark)).

11. Changes

We'll post updates here and update the date above, and we will notify you of material changes (in-product or by email) with reasonable notice. If you don't agree to a material change, you can close your account.
